SCEX and LPEX: One and the Same Exchange?LPEX will be renamed SCEX from April 2026.

On April 28, 2026, Loc Phat Vietnam Cryptocurrency Exchange Joint Stock Company (LPEX) completed the procedures to change its name to Sacom Cryptocurrency Exchange Joint Stock Company, abbreviated as SCEX.

LPEX and SCEX are the same business.

This is a point that can easily cause confusion when researching SCEX’s history. LPEX and SCEX are not two separate companies.

LPEX was the original name of the legal entity established on September 30, 2025. Following the business registration change on April 28, 2026, the new name used is SCEX.

Prior to the name change, the company increased its charter capital from 6.8 billion to 360 billion VND in February 2026.

SCEX began to emerge as a separate brand.

After renaming itself, SCEX gradually built its own brand identity and platform, while also announcing activities related to personnel, partnerships, technology, and the SCEX Simulator.

The official website currently identifies the legal entity as Sacom Crypto Asset Trading Joint Stock Company , business registration number 0111235712 , first registered on September 30, 2025.

This also explains why information prior to April 2026 often appears under the keyword LPEX, while information after that date primarily uses SCEX.

At the time Sancoin updated this article, SCEX stated that the company was still in the process of preparing the necessary documents and infrastructure to apply for a license to provide cryptocurrency trading market services.

LPEX changes its name to Sacom, entering the race for digital asset trading platforms.

More than just a rebranding, the name change to Sacom reflects LPEX’s strategic repositioning in the digital asset sector. With the backing of the LP ecosystem, the company is accelerating its efforts to seize opportunities arising from the emerging legal framework.

Loc Phat Vietnam Cryptocurrency Exchange Joint Stock Company (LPEX) has announced its name change to Sacom Cryptocurrency Exchange Joint Stock Company (Sacom, abbreviated SCEX) effective April 28, 2026, marking a repositioning step amidst the evolving legal framework for the digital asset market in Vietnam. According to the announcement, Mr. Nguyen Duy Phong (born in 1988) remains the legal representative and General Director of the company.

Established on September 30, 2025, and headquartered in Hanoi, the company primarily operates in investment consulting, brokerage, and contractual trust and supervision activities. Initially, the company had a charter capital of VND 6.8 billion, with three founding shareholders: Mr. Duong Van Quyet (40%), Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc (30%), and Mr. Vu Phat Dat (30%). By February 2026, the company had increased its capital to VND 360 billion, demonstrating a significant shift in scale in preparation for development plans in the digital asset sector.

According to published information, Sacom is building a cryptocurrency trading platform that connects the traditional financial system with the digital asset market, and is currently in the process of applying for a pilot license. The services expected to be implemented include spot trading, deposit/withdrawal, and digital asset custody. Notably, Sacom is part of the LP ecosystem, alongside LPBank, LPBank Securities (LPBS), and Sacombank. This linkage demonstrates a strategy that goes beyond simply building an exchange, but rather involves participating in a broader financial and investment service chain where digital assets can become a new component.

Sacom’s renaming and repositioning coincide with significant changes within the ecosystem. Recently, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuy divested some of his shares and stepped down as Chairman of LPBank before moving to the role of Permanent Vice Chairman of Sacombank. At the 2026 Annual General Meeting, he was re-elected to the Sacombank Board of Directors, directly participating in long-term strategic planning. These changes indicate a shift in the center of influence within the related financial ecosystem, potentially impacting the development direction of new projects, including those in the digital asset sector.

The renaming move comes as regulatory authorities are pushing to build a legal framework for the cryptocurrency market. According to the Ministry of Finance, seven applications for licenses to provide cryptocurrency trading services have been received. Among them, the application from LPEX (now Sacom) and several other businesses has been fully assessed and deemed valid according to the regulations in Resolution No. 05/2025/NQ-CP, opening the possibility of participating in the pilot phase in the near future.(Vietnam Crypto Exchange)
