CAEX Trading to Be Conducted Entirely in Vietnamese Dong
In a major step toward building a regulated, transparent domestic digital asset ecosystem, the Joint Stock Company of the Vietnam Prosperity Cryptocurrency Exchange (CAEX) has announced that all platform transactions will be conducted exclusively in the national currency, the Vietnamese Dong (VND).
The move marks a key operational milestone as Vietnam transitions its rapidly growing crypto market into a supervised regulatory sandbox under Government Resolution 05.

CAEX Trading to Be Conducted Entirely in Vietnamese Dong
Mandatory Local Currency Settlement
Unlike traditional global exchanges that predominantly rely on stablecoins such as USDT or USD-denominated pairs, CAEX’s infrastructure requires traders to use VND for order matching, buying, and selling digital assets.
This direct conversion model is designed to:
-
Ensure Full Regulatory Alignment: Adhere strictly to the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) and Ministry of Finance guidelines regarding legal tender and capital controls.
-
Protect Investor Assets: Enable seamless fiat-to-crypto integration directly with licensed domestic banking partners.
-
Simplify Tax Compliance: Facilitate transparent transaction tracking ahead of Vietnam’s upcoming digital asset tax laws.
Backing from Industry Leaders
CAEX is backed by prominent local institutions—including VPBank Securities (VPBankS) and LynkiD—as well as major international strategic partners OKX Ventures and HashKey Capital. Together, the consortium is finalizing a capital increase to reach 10 trillion VND (approx. $400 million USD), meeting the strict capital thresholds required to operate within Vietnam’s regulatory framework.
“Aligning with regulatory standards and conducting transactions in domestic currency provides a safe, transparent bridge between traditional finance and modern digital assets for Vietnamese investors,” noted platform representative insights during the rollout phase.
Key System Safeguards
In addition to VND-denominated trading, CAEX incorporates high-grade institutional compliance measures, including:
Mandatory KYC (Know Your Customer) and KYB (Know Your Business) verification.
Segregated Customer Funds and institutional-grade storage using cold wallets and Hardware Security Modules (HSM).
Direct integration with local banking networks for instant, secure fiat deposits and withdrawals.
Market Impact & Outlook
With Vietnam consistently ranking among the top countries globally in crypto adoption, the mandate for VND-based trading on licensed domestic venues provides much-needed legal clarity for retail and institutional traders alike. By channeling crypto liquidity through compliant VND pairs, Vietnam aims to mitigate money laundering risks, safeguard retail participants, and capture domestic financial value within its formal economy.(Vietnam Crypto Exchange)
